Synopsis:
The film meticulously deconstructs the tragic events surrounding the September 11, 1973 military coup d'état in Chile that overthrew the democratically elected socialist government of President Salvador Allende. Taking its title from the real-world coded radio signal broadcast by the military junta ("It is raining on Santiago") to launch the synchronized assault, the narrative follows various factions—loyalist citizens, student activists, targeted politicians, and the scheming military high command led by Augusto Pinochet. It culminates in the claustrophobic and heroic last stand inside the Moneda Presidential Palace.
