The new 4K restoration is a significant upgrade over the typical DVD-era master of the 2011 BDs. Unfortunately, the UHD suffers from Kino's typical incompetent encoding. Additionally, I personally believe that the new color grade is too cold/neutral and should lean more warm/yellow. While the old BDs exhibit signs of the typical magenta push common to DVD masters, it is certainly warmer than the UHD and thus closer to the colors of a U.S. theatrical 35mm print. My memory isn't infallible, but I surely remember my relatively recent viewing of the print having yellow-y whites.
Unlike Babe, audio for this title is more straightforward. The new UHD track has simply been dithered to 16-bit from the 24-bit source master and padded back to 24-bit. The 5.1 track on the EUR BD is a straight transfer of this 24-bit master, without clipping, so it was preferred. Both tracks sound mostly the same. The theatrical DTS Cinema CD was also compared, though neither of the disc 5.1 tracks match the reference levels of the theatrical CD.
Subtitles from all discs were tonemapped to match the UHD subtitles (65% white, #a7a7a7). English (US / SDH) subtitles from source #2 were OCR'd, spellchecked, and included in SDH and non-SDH versions. Alternate English SDH subtitles were included from the UHD (despite generally poor formatting and aliasing) as they include song lyrics. Named chapters were synced from source #3 and adjusted to nearby I- or P-frames where necessary.
