Cruising a 1966 Citroën Chapron 21 and 1961 ID 19 in California Canyons - June 22 2026
Jay Leno experiences the legendary floating ride of French automotive royalty as he welcomes brothers John and Greg Long to the garage with two incredibly special vehicles. The star of the show is a stunning 1966 Citroën DS 21 Decapotable featuring a custom convertible body built in Paris by the legendary coachbuilder Henri Chapron. This ultra-luxurious cruiser was so exclusive in its day that it cost twice as much as a standard sedan, matching the price tag of a Cadillac Eldorado convertible.
Jay and Greg dive into the unique engineering of this Antarctica Blue masterpiece, which features a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine producing 109 horsepower. Greg has lovingly owned and driven this car for 30 years, recently upgrading it to a five-speed manual transmission to complete an epic cross-country trek along Route 66 to celebrate his 66th birthday.
Following close behind in the rearview mirror is John Long's quirky 1961 Citroën ID 19 base model sedan. John shares the amazing story of how he rescued this car for absolutely free when he was just 17 years old after knocking on a local door where the car was sitting neglected on a front lawn. Painted in its original Capucine orange tone, this base model features manual steering and manual brakes but retains the magical hydro-pneumatic leveling suspension that defines the Citroën experience
