The development of knowledge-based systems can be traced to NASA and its dedication to artificial intelligence starting from the 1960s. However, the widespread use of these systems in the business environment can be traced to the recent developments have relate to the fifth-generation computer technology that is still greatly enshrined into the notion of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The emergence of computer technology, and most importantly, the internet has allowed the generation of an enormous amount of data or information that is relevant for organizations’ decision-making.
