Electronic Devices and Circuits provides a comprehensive account on electronic devices and circuits and is as ideal for students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in electronics, as it is for aspiring professionals in the electronics industry. The book is comprised of two parts and begins with a discussion on the laws of quantum mechanics and their influence on the operation of electronic devices. It covers basic electronic devices such as semiconductors, bipolar junction transistors and field effect transistors in the first part and examines the application of these devices in electronic circuits, in the second. Replete with numerical examples, numerical exercises, MCQs and short- and long-answer questions, the book is designed to hone the student’s understanding of the subject.
The second part of this text deals with electronic circuits based on the devices discussed in Part I. It starts with an illustration of diode circuits in Chapter 10 with all essential features concisely accommodated in a student-friendly manner, touching upon diverse areas of circuits such as rectifiers, clippers, clampers, logic gates and detectors. BJT amplifier circuits are dealt with in Chapter 11. The chapter explains the derivation of formulae for the conversion of h-parameters, point-wise. It also presents the transfer function and pole-zero concepts in amplifier frequency response at a basic level. Chapters 12 (FET circuits), 13 (feedback circuits), 14 (oscillatorcircuits), 15 (power amplifier circuits) and 16 (operational amplifiers circuits) deal concisely with FET circuits, feedback circuits, oscillator circuits, power amplifier circuits and operational amplifier circuits respectively. The topics in these chapters have been selected to cover the syllabi of most of the technical universities across the country
